about aar-hcs

What we do
The History of Christianity Section (HCS) is a program unit of the American Academy of Religion (AAR) devoted to promoting research and discussion on the history of the Christian religious tradition, from its origins up to the present day. Our meetings take place annually at the AAR's national conference, held each year in a major North American city the weekend before Thanksgiving (future sites are listed here). At the yearly meetings, we hold a series of paper sessions and panels in which scholars present new research and offer critical reflections on the state of the field. All interested members of the AAR are welcome to attend our annual Business Meeting, held immediately subsequent to one of our sessions (see the schedule page for details on this year's plans).
